An extraordinary day at the Byron Nelson Classic |

Yesterday, at the Byron Nelson Classic, I spend the afternoon with about a 100 kids from The First Tee program of Dallas, Arlington and Ft. Worth. This is the 2nd such event that I have participated in thanks to my involvement with Fed Ex.

The first major of the year is just a little more than a week away and players are preparing different ways. Some players like to play the week before the majors and others like to practice. Tiger Wood’s theme is always the same. Even after winning 9 of his last 10 tournaments, nothing changes. All Tiger wants to know is, “How can I improve? What do I need to do today to be better than I was yesterday and what am I going to do tomorrow to be better than I am today?” It is an attitude that you only see with incredibly high achievers, in any facet of life. The key for Tiger is being able to do a good self-diagnosis after every golf tournament that he plays. He analyzing what needs improvement and he sets out to make any perceived weakness into strength.

There is so much more to the game of golf and winning golf tournaments then just hitting fairways. Having said that I know that Tiger didn’t play his best on Friday and Saturday at Dubai, but he sure did play better on Sunday.
